Final effects of Oak Creek won’t be known ‘til later

As I write you this letter with my right hand, I am holding a letter written by Don Zimring in my left hand. Once again for the record, Zimring’s letter stated that there would be approximately 554 new students brought in by the Oak Creek development.

Is it just me, or has someone flip-flopped his views? Let’s be honest, Mr. Zimring, the changes made were aesthetic at best. The one-time payoff by Snyder is not operational funds.

My children have 36 kids in their classroom; am I the only one who sees how this project will affect our schools? Our teachers are having to work harder and longer hours and they haven’t had a substantial raise in three years.

Okay, so let’s hypothetically say that Zimring is right, that there are only 225 new students coming in from these apartments. Do you really believe that 225 more students won’t impact such a small school district? As a graduate of psychology at Pepperdine University, I was the head of a statistical research program. I can tell you, Mr. Zimring, that your statistics are all wrong. Do the math. The mothers in this community are highly educated women. Don’t think that we don’t know when the wool is being pulled over our eyes.

Have you noticed that the council keeps blaming the citizens for their bad development choices?

Don’t pin your mistakes on us. I have yet to talk to one person in this city who likes the apartment buildings. The city council should stop trying to attract businesses we don’t need. We need extracurricular activities for our children. The movie theatre is not enough. I feel like my wallet has been stolen by the Agoura Hills City Council.

I can assure you I won’t forget the council’s mishandling on voting day. We need new ideas and a fresh approach to government. I’m voting for Alex Soteras.
