Soteras, Kuperberg endorsed in Agoura Hills Council race

The Acorn endorses Alex Soteras and Dan Kuperberg in the Agoura Hills City Council race.

Soteras will bring a new perspective to a council that needs it. Existing businesses need a friendly voice in city hall because the business community has often been treated like an unwanted stepchild in Agoura Hills. As president of the Agoura/Oak Park/Las Virgenes Chamber of Commerce, Soteras will help subdue the thinly veiled hostility that’s existed for too long between the Agoura Hills City Council and its business community.

Critics claim that he’s trying to buy a council seat. So what? This is America. If it worked for Arnold Schwarzenegger in Sacramento and Ed Masry in Thousand Oaks, it can also work in Agoura Hills.

Soteras is a leader who will listen to the people and vote accordingly. He has the skills and dedication that are required for the job.

The city of Agoura Hills needs Alex Soteras.

It also needs Dan Kuperberg.

Blaming Kuperberg as if he single-handedly approved the Oak Creek project is unfair. Five council members unanimously approved the project, not just Dan Kuperberg. If he loses his reelection bid because of Oak Creek, so should three other incumbents in the next election.

Kuperberg has steadfastly fought to preserve open space. He wants to do all he can to make Agoura Hills a better place to live and work.

Dan Kuperberg deserves to be reelected on Nov. 4.

A final thought: we were impressed by challenger John Edelston. He, too, would bring creative and innovative ideas to the city council. We hope to see him in the next Agoura Hills City Council election if he isn’t elected this time.

Those are our endorsements.

No matter how you vote, please participate on Nov. 4.
