Donations sought for knitters

In only four years, the volunteers of Stitches from the Heart have donated more than 120,000 hand-made warmth-giving items to be distributed to needy families of newborns, free of charge, to more than 380 hospitals and charities. Volunteers create knitted and crocheted hats, booties, sweaters, blankets and quilts. The nonprofit organization, based in Los Angeles, is searching for more volunteers to knit, crochet or quilt these items for babies in need. Patterns are available, and the completed items are donated to local and nationwide hospitals. Donations of yarn are also welcomed.
