Christian singer to perform at Living Hope Clifton Jansky, who was voted 2002 Best Male Vocalist of the Year by the Christian Country Music Association (CCMA), will present a free concert at 9:30 a.m. this Sun., Oct. 12 at Living Hope Church of the Nazarene, 2770 Borchard Road, Newbury Park. Guests are invited to wear Western attire to the concert and there will be refreshments following Jansky’s performance. For more information, please call (805) 498-6721. Jansky, who was also named 2001 New Artist of the Year by the CCMA, was once a popular performer in South Texas dancehalls, where he had 12 regional hits on country radio, including "Amarillo by Morning," which was later recorded by George Strait. He opened shows for Tanya Tucker and Eddie Rabbitt. Life-transforming events in late 1983 and early 1984 led him "to hear the word of God for the first time," according to Jansky, whose album "Amarillo by Morning to Amazing Grace" tells his life’s story. Today he hosts free barbecue/concerts in the towns where he once performed and audiences listen to his country hits as well as his testimony about how God changed his life. His single "Heart Transplant" topped three Christian charts last spring. For more information about Jansky and his music, visit www.cliftonjansky.com. |
