One-day self defense course to teach basics

Los Angeles Pierce College Extension is offering a course designed to teach the basics of self defense for men, women and young adults from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sat., Oct. 11 on the campus at 6201 Winnetka Ave., Woodland Hills. Participants will learn a basic set of skills that "quickly adapt to any situation, against any attacker" according to the course description.

In addition, participants will learn how to stop an attack before it begins, how to apply simple yet effective techniques to stop any attacker and how to "create a protective shield."

Instructor D.L. Morgan is a 2nd degree Black Belt, Kung Fu San Soo.
