Edelstein a compassionate candidate Thank you for the very informative article about Michael Edelstein and his quest to be elected to the Westlake Village City Council (Sept. 18 Acorn). While most of what you mentioned about Edelstein was new to me, one thing that I did know unfortunately did not get mentioned. During the war in Kosovo, Michael Edelstein and his wife, Julie, sponsored an entire family of Kosovo refugees. Michael and Julie made room in their home for three generations of people whom they had never met, who practiced a different religion and spoke a different language. They fed them, housed them, and helped the children get schooling. They did this for no material gain, but solely to help a family whose compatriots were being murdered in their homeland. As interesting as are Edel-stein’s other achievements in local Westlake community affairs, I think this act speaks much more toward the kind of man that Michael is. He puts his concerns for others into action, and that alone warrants that Westlake Village residents should give serious consideration to Michael Edel-stein as a city council candidate. I’m voting for him. Eric Taub Westlake Village |
