Candidate expresses gratitude

I am writing to publicly thank the more than 100 people who have already lent their good names in public support of my candidacy for the open seat on the Agoura Hills City Council. I am especially appreciative for the early support that I’ve received from the leaders of this community. These are people who have been working for years, some since before cityhood, to help create the high quality of life that we all enjoy.

With endorsements being added every day, I am particularly honored to have been endorsed by the majority of the elected, environmental, educational and community leaders who actually live in Agoura and who have a personal stake in the kind of future that we will build.

To date these include four-time Agoura Hills mayor, now state Assemblymember Fran Pavley; Agoura Hills Mayor Jeff Reinhardt, Mayor Pro Tem Dan Kuperberg and council members Ed Corridori and Louise Rishoff; Agoura Hills planning commissioners Phil Ramuno, Harry Schwarz, Ray Shackelford, and Diane Walker; Jess Thomas, President of the Old Agoura Homeowners’ Association and Las Virgenes Homeowners’ Federation "Citizen of the Year"; Joan Yacovone, past mayor and president of the Friends of the Agoura Hills Library; Mary Wiesbrock, director of Save Open Space/Santa Monica Mountains; Terilyn Finders, president, and board members Pat Schulz and Judy Jordan, Las Virgenes Unified School District; Glen Peterson and Ann Dorgelo, directors, Las Virgenes Municipal Water District; presidents of numerous homeowners’ associations; and environmental advocates Erin Brockovich and Ed Masry.

The common vision of all of these community leaders is keeping growth in check, safeguarding our natural resources, and providing the best environment possible for our children to grow up in. I take their trust very seriously, and I’ll do everything in my power as a councilmember to keep Agoura Hills slow growth and family friendly.

Although people are somewhat focused right now on the Oct. 7 election, I hope that voters will remember that the choices they make at the general Nov. 4 school board and city council elections will impact their day-to-day quality of life every bit as much, if not more. My commitment for the next four years on the council would be to keep Agoura Hills slow growth and family friendly. Please remember to vote on Nov. 4.
