Local mothers’ groups to host open houses

The Woodland Hills Chapter of Mothers & More will host an Open House from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sun., Oct. 5 at The Secret Garden, 22101 Ventura Blvd., Woodland Hills. The event is in honor of 16 years of providing a nationwide network of support for women altering their careers over the course of their active parenting years.

Mothers & More is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of mothers through support, education and advocacy. The Woodland Hills chapter offers two evening meetings a month with topical discussions and/or guest speakers in addition to mom’s night out, play groups, play dates, book club meetings and volunteer opportunities.

The Open House will introduce interested mothers to the many services of Mothers & More, feature resources for working and stay-at-home moms and offer a chance to meet women who are going through similar life experiences. Food, beverages and door prizes will be available. Babies six months and younger are welcome.

The Conejo Valley Chapter of Mothers & More will host an Open House from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Thurs., Oct. 9 at Conejo Valley Church of Christ, 2525 E. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks.

Guest speaker Michael Thompson will discuss "Raising Emotionally Intelligent Children." The event will feature information about membership, and all prospective members are invited to attend. The Conejo Valley Chapter includes mothers in Calabasas, Agoura Hills, Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park, Moorpark and Simi Valley.
