Oak Park High School to celebrate new performing arts, activity pavilion
Event will be
4 to 8 p.m., Sun., Oct. 12 Event will be 4 to 8 p.m., Sun., Oct. 12 You’re invited to "Another Opening, Another Show," Oak Park High School’s Grand Opening of the new OPHS Pavilion on Sun., Oct. 12 from 4 to 8 p.m. Planned activities include a tour of the new facility from 4 to 5:30 p.m. and an Art Show at "The Cage" where artwork will be for sale, live entertainment will be presented and refreshments will be available. Additionally, the schedules of local art organizations and performance groups will be available. The Tri-Valley Special Olympics basketball players will be returning for their second year to play members of OPHS staff, AYBA youth and OPHS athletes. There will also be a pre-game musical fashion show highlighting booster apparel and accessories. This will begin at 5 p.m. in the gym. "Another Opening, Another Show," a musical variety extravaganza, will be presented at 6 p.m., featuring surprise special guest artists and members of the school’s art groups. Topping off activities will be an afterglow reception in the new pavilion courtyard beginning at 7:15 p.m. "This facility will offer many diverse cultural opportunities for all families in our regional area," said Cliff Moore, OPHS principal. The school expects to offer, he said, many educational outreach programs. "We hope this day will complete the ‘Name a Seat’ campaign and substantially finalize our funding drive for this marvelous event and performing arts center," said Moore. Tickets for "Another Opening, Another Show" are available, and prices range from $25 to $100. Seating is limited to 350 and will be honored on a first-come, first-served basis.
