Some local residents have asked where to drop off hazardous waste, including motor oil, oil-based paints, car batteries, propane tanks, pesticides and other items.

Very few locations accept such toxics—most of these items must be disposed of at various roundup events that move from city to city throughout Los Angeles County.

Jiffy Lube at 29162 Roadside Dr. in Agoura Hills and Texaco Xpress Lube at 4929 Las Virgenes Road In Calabasas both recycle oil. The phone number for Jiffy Lube is (818) 991-9090 and the phone number for Texaco Xpress Lube is (818) 880-8822.

The following is a schedule with locations to drop off used motor oil, oil filters, and anti-freeze, latex paint and car batteries:

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the first Saturday of each month at the Agoura Hills City Hall parking lot at 30001 Ladyface Court. For more information, please call (818) 597-7339.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the second Saturday of each month at Calabasas City Hall at 26135 Mureau Road. For more information, call (818) 878-4225.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the fourth Saturday of each month in Westlake Village at Bennett Park at 31800 Village Center Road. For more information, call (818) 706-1613.

Oil-based paints, stain materials, paint thinner, pesticides, household cleaners, aerosol cans or unmarked containers won’t be accepted at the above locations.

Propane tanks, pesticides, batteries, paint and other specific items that cannot be dumped should be brought to traveling roundup events, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works Environmental Programs Division.

Upcoming roundup events are:

9 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Saturday at the L.A. County Public Works headquarters at 900 S. Fremont Ave. in Alhambra
