Female cancer patients find support, compassion

Godiva’s Secret, a store in Woodland Hills that features hairpieces, wigs and other items and is particularly sensitive to the needs of women undergoing chemotherapy treatment, has found that many of their clients who are being treated for cancer are interested in meeting other women going through the same challenges or who have experienced and overcome this challenge in their lives.

In response to these clients, Godiva’s Secret is launching a women’s group offering women a place to chat, share questions and experiences in a comfortable, confidential setting. The group will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. every other week at the store, 22700 Ventura Blvd., Woodland Hills. There is no fee to participate.

They’ll also offer "Look Good, Feel Better" seminars once a month. National cosmetics companies including Lancome, Clinique and Revlon have joined together to provide cancer patients with free make-up kits. The evening events will feature a licensed cosmetologist and Rochelle of Godiva’s Secret as hostess, providing guests with make-up tips as well as wig, scarf and hat secrets.

The American Cancer Society praised the store for accommodating these special events.
