Moorpark College to host family event

The Moorpark College Child Development Center (CDC) will host "Discovery Day," their semi-annual fundraiser, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sat., Oct. 4 on the rooms, patios and grounds of the Center at Moorpark College, 7075 Campus Road, Moorpark. The event is presented to increase public awareness of developmentally appropriate programs.

The day will be filled with many fun and educational activities for parents and their children between the ages of 2 and 10. Kids can "mine for gold" in the sandbox, "dig for fossils" in ice, experiment with a variety of "doughs" and "blast off" in the Center’s spaceship, "buy groceries" in their store and try many other activities.

Additional attractions include a visit from "the Toymaker," Gene West, throughout the day; and the Sunshine Band performing from noon to 1 p.m.

The cost is $2 per adult, $4 per child. Food, soft drinks and baked goods will be available for purchase from the parents in the CDC program. For more information, please call (805) 378-1401.
