Mini classes, panels will cover many aspects of creative writing

UCLA Extension will host a free Writers Faire, described as a celebration of writing, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sat., Sept. 13 in the Young Hall Courtyard on the UCLA campus in Westwood.

UCLA Extension writing instructors will lead 24 free "mini classes" and panels covering a diverse range of topics in creative writing and screenwriting.

Subjects will include every aspect of writing, from memoirs to films, and panels will feature more than 60 distinguished writers/teachers. The 40-minute classes and panels include "Getting Started as a Writer," "Making Your Scenes and Story Come Alive," "The LA Poetry Scene," "Breaking into Hollywood, Staying in the Game" and an inside look at MFA programs and online education.

Local groups including the Asian American Writers Workshop, International Black Writers and Artists, Poets & Writers, Inc., Sisters in Crime, the Library Center Foundation, and the Writers Guild Foundation will also be represented at the Faire.
