Moorpark’s teaching zoo to host a wild event

"Fur, Feathers + Marines & Friends = A Fun Raiser" is a family entertainment event from 12:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sun., Sept. 14 at America’s Teaching Zoo on the Moorpark College campus, just off the 118 Freeway in Moorpark.

It’s a fundraiser to promote the Marines & Friends Organization’s Special Education Scholarships and the zoo’s Exotic Animal Training and Management feeding program. Shriners’ clowns will provide magic and balloon artistry. U.S. Marines will meet and greet guests, who will, of course, have an opportunity for an up-close and personal look at the zoo’s collection of exotic animals. And children won’t want to miss getting some hugs from Bugs Bunny during the event.

Admission is $8 adults, $6 children age 12 and under. Those under age 3 are admitted free.
