Jewish children’s literature to be celebrated at bookfest

Volunteers are being sought for a variety of roles at November event

In celebration of Jewish Book Month, Mount Sinai Memorial Parks and the Jewish Community Centers of Greater Los Angeles will present the inaugural Jewish Children’s Bookfest from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sun., Nov. 16 at the Triangle at Mount Sinai Memorial Park, 6150 Mount Sinai Drive, Simi Valley.

The Bookfest is a celebration of Jewish children’s authors, illustrators and literature.

The event will include a variety of literature-related activities and entertainment, including performances by Parachute Express, the Los Angeles Children’s Museum Theatre Project, award-winning Jewish puppeteer Len Levitt, who will also conduct a puppet-making workshop, menorah and book-binding workshops, celebrity readings, appearances by favorite Jewish literary characters, author signings, book vendors, food and more. Admission is free.

Volunteers are sought to help out in a variety of roles.
