Too early to tell if school traffic’s worse or not Wednesday of last week was the first day of school for students enrolled in Las Virgenes Unified School District. Traffic trends around the camupuses seemed to be similar to last year, according to LVUSD Deputy Superintendent Donald Zimring. "It’s hard to see a difference at the start of the year," Zimring said last week. He expected to have a better interpretation of the situation by tomorrow. Enrollment is up, but only by about 40 students. And according to Zimring, the numbers tend to change after the first couple of weeks. Asked if walking to school might be up, Zimring said most parents drive their kids to school, especially in the first month. A.C. Stelle Middle School, a new 35-classroom facility in Calabasas, is expected to open later this year. Many A.E. Wright Middle School students will transfer to that campus when A.C. Stelle opens. —Michael Picarella |
