Basketball league for special players now forming

The city of Calabasas has announced a sports program, "All Starz Basketball League," that’s open to children and adults between the ages of 7-21 who have a cognitive and/or physical challenge. Participants will be taught basketball handling skills, basic game rules and how to compete on a team. The goal is for each player "to experience positive recreation, build self-confidence, socialize with others and feel a sense of inclusion."

The $50 fee will include a full uniform, trophy, individual and team pictures and awards ceremony.

The league will run from Sept. 10 through Nov. 19 at the Agoura Hills/Calabasas Community Center. Play will be every Wednesday from 6:30 to 9 p.m.; the younger division will play from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and the older division from 7:30 to 9 p.m.

For more information or to register, please call the Community Services Department at (818) 880-6461 or stop by De Anza Park, 3701 Lost Hills Road, Calabasas Hills.
