Three named to board Veterans Park Conservancy (VPC) is a nonprofit community public/private partnership dedicated to the enhancement and preservation of 400 acres of public land in West Los Angeles established to honor the nation’s veterans. Recently they announced the election of three new members to the VPC board of directors: Glen McDaniel, Michele C. Coyle and Stanford E. Brown. McDaniel served as a lieutenant commander with the Bureau of Aeronautics and was chairman of the Navy Board of Contract Appeals, subsequent to holding the post of civilian special counsel to Under-Secretary of the Navy James Forrestal during World War II. Coyle, a partner in the Los Angeles office of Hogan and Harston L.L.P., has extensive experience in environmental matters including open space, land trust and conservancy issues. Brown is a retired brigadier general in the U.S. Air Force and currently serves as president of a community organization dedicated to programs designed to enhance the Riverside National Cemetery. "We are honored to have these highly respected individuals join our organization. Our common belief as board members is that maintaining the West Los Angeles Veterans Affairs property under federal ownership is essential, and preserving the property for the direct benefit of veterans is fundamental," said Maj. Gen. Gwynn Robinson, USAF Ret., and president of VPC. "With the additional talent and commitment of these new members our resolve is strengthened and our vision to transform this Westside property to world-class status dedicated to the American veteran is closer to reality." |
