Gan Israel Day Camp teaches Jewish heritage, much more

Gan Israel Day Camp of Agoura Hills offers boys and girls ages 5 through 13 programs of sports, drama, martial arts, Red Cross supervised swimming, field trips, arts and crafts, as well as "Jewish Heritage Time."

Children are divided into groups by age and are guided by experienced counselors. Every effort is made to encourage creativity and growth among the campers, according to Rabbi Yisroel Levine, director of the camp.

Special activities will include trips to Disneyland, Magic Mountain and Knott’s Berry Farm, plus roller and ice skating, miniature golf, bowling and a harbor cruise.

The program runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays. Three day-a-week programs are available as well.

Camp Gan Israel offers two sessions: From June 30 through July 25 and from July 28 through Aug. 15. Partial scholarships are available to the camp that radio personality Dennis Prager (whose son attends the camp) said "succeeds in doing exactly what any Jewish parent would want a Jewish camp to do—make Judaism fun!"
