Academy of Dance students win trophies

More than 50 students from the Academy of Dance and School of Performing Arts in Westlake Village attended and performed at the Starbound National Dance Competition in Hermosa Beach recently. Before renowned dance judges they performed four routines to the songs "Fighter" and "Blowin Me Up" (choreographed by Jennifer Preston), "Rhythm of the Night" (choreographed by Kevin Williamson) and "Gossip Folks" (choreographed by Ahjalia Hall).

The students earned three gold trophies and one silver medal at the competition.

Three Academy of Dance classes rehearsed for five months learning their routines and had the opportunity to compete against other local dance studios. The Academy’s Dance Company, a group of girls who take six classes minimum each week, have been working for nine months together and brought home a gold trophy for their efforts.
