Pleased with Calabasas council

On May 14 at the city council meeting in Calabasas a wonderful thing happened. By a unanimous decision, the city council budgeted $625,000 towards an Education Trust. The trust is being established by the city council to alleviate some Las Virgenes Unified School District (LVUSD) budget cuts to schools located in the city of Calabasas.

By virtue of the trust, Calabasas schools music and theater programs as well as athletics will be preserved. The counselors for middle and high school will hopefully be saved as well as other programs.

We who live in Calabasas are very fortunate to live in such an amazing community with exceptional civic leaders. Our city council is in touch with the needs of the community and has raised the bar for other cities to emulate.

Members of the city council, you have our admiration and gratitude. Rarely does one find such close cooperation between city government, school districts, and the community at large. The ability of our civic leaders to act in such an expeditious manner is to be commended by all.
