Assembly bill would inform parents on daycare providers The California state Assembly recently approved AB-1683, a bill authored by Assemblywoman Fran Pavley (D-Woodland Hills) that would provide parents direct and timely information concerning problems at children’s daycare facilities. The bill would require all licensed child daycare providers to post copies of their licensing reports, which describe the provider’s violations and explain any corrective action that is required, when a provider has violated state law or regulation. The bill also requires the Department of Social Services, the licensing agency, to post a notice when it’s visited a facility and issued a new licensing report. "AB-1683 will provide parents direct access to critical information concerning the welfare of their children," said Pavley. "Without direct access to the licensing reports and knowledge of regulatory actions, parents do not have the information they need to ensure that their children are receiving good care," she said. AB-1683 now moves to the state Senate. |
