Former residents shine brightly in college

Maral Farsi, 22, of Calabasas was recently recognized as one of four recipients of Cal State University’s"Outstanding Graduating Senior Award" at the university’s annual Honors Convocation.

She received her bachelor’s degree in health education and plans to pursue a master’s degree and eventually a doctorate in health administration. Farsi currently works as a health policy intern for California state Sen. Sheila Kuehl (D-Santa Monica).

Cadet Sakellarios M. Spirtos, son of Maria M. Spirtos of Hidden Hills, recently participated in the U.S. Military Academy’s Scoutmaster Council 41st annual West Point Invitational Camporee.

About 3,000 Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts representing 130 troops from several states participated in the event.

Spirtos graduated from Calabasas High School in 2000. Later, he’ll be commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army.
