Maybe somebody should start a Diversity Club?

We are writing to you in regards to the article about the young woman who was a victim of racism at Calabasas High School.

There is nothing that saddens us more than when we see or hear about people being judged by such illusionary standards as money, clothes, appearance or, in this case, skin color.

Though we understand and commend this student’s proactive stance in starting the African American Awareness Club, we got to thinking, wouldn’t it be great if someone started "The Diversity Club," or how about "Club Human"—anyone can join—there are no fees to pay and the aim is to foster understanding and appreciation, acceptance and tolerance for the gifts that all people bring to the world and to just celebrate the human being that they are—period.

When truly in need, it is not money, clothing or looks that will bring us help or comfort. Will it matter at all that the hand that reaches out to help or hold you isn’t white or rich or beautiful?

We think not.
