Leonis Adobe has new chairman

The board of the Leonis Adobe Museum has announced the appointment of Don Adams as chairman of the Leonis Adobe Association. The Leonis Adobe Association was formed in the 1960s to restore and preserve the Leonis Adobe in Old Town Calabasas, Los Angeles Historical Cultural Monument No. 1 and the Plummer House State Historical Place No. 161. Also on the grounds is Calabasas Creek Park, a replica of a Victorian park with picnic benches, a year-round creek, rose garden and oak grove.

Ray Phillips, who served as chairman for 40 years, was a key figure in preserving the Leonis Adobe and has received many awards and honors over the years for his dedication to the museum and Old Town Calabasas. He’ll continue to serve as President Emeritus and museum historian.

Adams, who served on the board for 20 years, is keen on California history and looks forward to enhancing the awareness of the Leonis Adobe Museum within the community as well as the state.

"The Leonis Adobe is one of the few original buildings that existed before California became a state," said Adams. "We created a membership program that allows the community to become involved in this California legend. We want to keep it alive for years to come."
