Reagan Library to host event
At 9 a.m. tomorrow, Fri., March 14, the Monument to the Bicentennial of the U.S. Constitution will be delivered to the Ronald Reagan Library and Museum, 40 Presidential Drive, Simi Valley, where it will be housed for the next few years.
An unveiling ceremony will begin at 10 a.m.
Artist Brett Livingstone-Strong was commissioned in early 1987 to design and create a monument to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Constitution’s signing. On Sept. 17, 1988 (the 200th anniversary), then-President Reagan unveiled and dedicated the monument at Independence Hall in Philadelphia.
The monument stands about 8 ft. tall and weighs 7 tons. Each section of it symbolizes America’s past 200 years.
