No need for change We received a flyer on Feb. 19 from the Coalition for Competent Leadership. It urged a Yes vote on Measure A. The unidentified author complained that the city hadn’t yet spent all of the money that had been collected. Wow! If that’s an example of their self-styled "competent leadership," I hate to think what would happen to the city if they were in control. Anyone who reads your fine paper or watches the council meetings knows that several multimillion-dollar projects are being contemplated. Although there will, hopefully, be some financial help from other agencies, the city’s share will be many millions of dollars. They could borrow the needed funds, requiring repayment with interest; they could continue to postpone them until a miracle occurs; or they could continue to accumulate part of the city’s share in advance, to preclude as much borrowing as possible. That’s the track that they seem to be on. It seems prudent to me, and I applaud them for their foresight. Will Stokes Calabasas |
