Lee, Washburn deserve reelection

Janice Lee and Dennis Washburn have each earned another term on the Calabasas City Council because of their successful history of activism in ensuring the exceptional quality of life in Calabasas. Long before they were elected and throughout their terms, Lee and Washburn have proven their foresight, leadership and dedication to the community.

Before her term on council Lee spoke out against the devastation Ahmanson Ranch will cause our natural and community resources. Now Lee is credited for building the coalition that spreads through seven cities and two counties that has prevented Ahmanson.

Lee also brought the government in to investigate toxic waste in the landfill. Lee is committed to preserving open space and our environment.

At the same time, Lee demands fiscal responsibility. Lee insists on knowing the budget before the money is spent and on getting a fair share to each neighborhood.

Lee works closely with the sheriff’s department to ensure traffic and public safety. She helps with the VIDA program for at-risk youth. A volunteer for the Special Olympics, Lee is planning programs for youth of all abilities in Calabasas.

Lee and Washburn support working with LVUSD to develop joint-use agreements that will reserve funds and space while at the same time providing the best educational and recreational services for our children.

Lee kept her campaign promises and her voting record is never questioned. (And don’t forget she was cheered by a standing-room-only crowd when she resumed her seat as mayor.)

Washburn is a founder of Calabasas and he’s been reelected to council ever since. Voters credit Washburn for his innovative ideas and fiscal responsibility in successfully creating Calabasas as we know it. His numerous associations with government and environment-focused organizations contribute to his qualifications to guide Calabasas into the future.

Janice Lee and Dennis Washburn have proven themselves trusted and successful leaders for Calabasas.
