United Methodist Church offers special class on Lent

Guest speaker the Rev. Dr. Kimball Coburn will give the message "The Joy of Life" at the 8, 9 and 10:30 a.m. worship services this Sun., March 2 in the sanctuary at United Methodist Church, 1049 Westlake Blvd., Westlake Village. Special music will be provided at each service.

Sunday School classes for all ages meet at 9 a.m. Care for infants and young children is provided at 9 and 10:30 a.m.

A "40-Day Walk to the Purpose Driven Life" will be the theme of a class offered during Lent at the church. Sponsored by the Christian Education and Spiritual Life committees, the class will meet from 6 to 7 p.m. daily except Wednesdays and Saturdays from Ash Wednesday, March 5 through Sat., April 19. Sunday "celebration day" meetings will be at noon with a potluck lunch.

The main textbook for the study group is "The Purpose Driven Life" by Rick Warren. Time will be spent discussing "What on Earth am I Here for?
