No to Groveman

On televised candidate forums, Barry Groveman states he feels "very strongly about the battle to stop Ahmanson."

But records from his last bid for public office in 2000 list a contribution from Ahmanson’s lead attorney, Charles Cohen. His current endorsement list includes Ahmanson supporters.

Groveman’s campaign literature states he has "considerable experience dealing with the emerging chemical known as perchlorate and will use this experience" for challenging Ahmanson Ranch. But he has not testified at any of the recent perchlorate hearings on Ahmanson.

Several L. A. Weekly articles on the Internet paint a troubling picture of him. One article was titled "Barry Groveman’s Secret, or What They Don’t Know Can’t Hurt You." Another article quotes retired environmental prosecutor Anthony Patchett on Groveman as "defending some of the worst polluters out there."

Just two years ago, in Groveman’s last bid for elected office, 75 percent of the voters did not vote for him.

Food for thought.
