Anybody but Lee

As the March 4 election draws near, I am considering which city council candidates to vote for. I have watched the various debates and forums and have read The Acorn and pamphlets received in the mail from various candidates. I am, however, still perplexed by one thing.

Janice Lee has made no attempt to explain to the voters why she abruptly resigned as mayor in a moment of uncontrolled emotion during a council meeting, broke her oath of office, walked out of city hall and was nowhere to be found for weeks.

She behaves as if it never happened and needs no explanation. She continues to say that she has been there for us for the last four years and that she has an "unwavering" commitment to the people of Calabasas. That’s not what I call unwavering.

Before I can consider voting for Lee, I would like to hear an explanation as to why she abandoned the city and why she believes we can count on her when the going gets tough. In fights ahead such as Ahmanson, we need clear, levelheaded representation on our city council.

We need fighters, not quitters. This is her chance. The voters expect her to communicate to us on this vital qualification issue.
