Art class goes to the zoo

Los Angeles Pierce College Extension is offering a course to teach artists how to draw live animals. The class is taught at the Los Angeles Zoo where participants will learn to capture the stride of a lion, the bone structure of a giraffe, the personality of a chimp and the massive volume of an elephant. Through gesture studies from life, construction and anatomy, students will learn how to draw animals confidently.

Instructor David Coleman, BA, has taught at Learning Tree University and has done life drawing at Disney TV Animation.

"Animal Drawings" is offered from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturdays, Feb. 22-March 29 at the Los Angeles Zoo, 5333 Zoo Drive, in Griffith Park, Los Angeles.
