Keep Calabasas

on solid ground;
no on Measure A

on solid ground;

no on Measure A

I am writing to urge the residents of Calabasas to vote no on Measure A. Revenue received through the Utility User Tax (UUT) represents about 18 percent of the general fund budget. Unlike other money in the budget, the UUT is 100 percent discretionary, allowing the city the flexibility to use this resource where and when it is needed most.

Because of the UUT, Calabasas has a very strong bond rating due to our reserves. A strong bond rating is vital to a city. It enables a city to borrow money at low interest rates if needed.

Why would we want to throw away the ability of our city to be independent? Why would we want to jeopardize the values of our homes and our quality of life by losing these funds at the same time Calabasas is being hit with devastating state and federal cuts?

We live in a wonderful city with an envied quality of life. The citizens of Calabasas have reaped the benefits of services our city is able to provide because of the revenue generated by the UUT. On March 4, vote no on Measure A.
