Cantor’s Concert to be presented at Temple Aliyah

Noted performer and composer Mark Bloom will join Hazzan Mike Stein at Temple Aliyah’s annual Cantor’s Concert, "Music ’n’ Bloom," at 7:30 p.m. Sun., Feb. 2 at the synagogue, 6025 Valley Circle Blvd., Woodland Hills.

Bloom’s innovative musical vision bridges every generation of American and Jewish culture. He brings "a spirited and reverent melding" of traditional Jewish melodies into modern rhythms and harmonies in a program featuring jazz, folk, rock, blues, Broadway and Israeli tunes.

Cantor Stein is a Grammy Award-winning musician, performer and composer who will be joined by his family for an evening of song, humor, instrumental music, "hazzanut" and yodeling. Stein introduced the popular "Shabbat in Swingtime" to Temple Aliyah.

Joining Stein and Bloom will be Cantor Mindy Harris who will sing from her wide repertoire of Broadway and show tunes as well as traditional Jewish melodies.
