The barriers begin with city limits

In the Dec. 26 edition of The Acorn we read the full-page ad from Heschel West. It lists 714 names of people who claim the proposed school will be a wonderful asset to our community.

I think of our community as Old Agoura and Agoura Hills respectively.

I don’t relate to Calabasas, Oak Park or Westlake problems, and I am sure the 480 people who signed the ad who claim a residence as "other" don’t much care about me or Agoura Hills.

How many names on the list are from Old Agoura? One hundred eight say they are from Agoura Hills, and that includes Hillrise, Lake Lindero, Morrison Ranch, the Highlands, Fountain-wood and, to some folk, Oak Park.

I care about Old Agoura.

It is because we love our peaceful community that we fight so hard to save it.

The recent construction on Canwood and Roadside Drive has stressed the fragile two-lane Chesebro bridge and off-ramps, but at least their businesses benefit the Agoura Hills tax base.

A school at the intersection will only increase our traffic and safety woes.
