Special Shabbat service to recognize ‘Jewish Arbor Day’

Congregation Or Ami will have a special Shabbat service at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow night, Fri., Jan. 17 at Bay Laurel Elementary School, 24740 Paseo Primaria, Calabasas, to observe Tu B’Shvat, the Jewish Arbor Day.

Rabbi Paul Kipnes, cantorial soloist Terry Lieberstein and Rabbinic intern Corie Yutkin will lead this service celebrating the gift of nature.

Blending midrashic tales of creation and songs about nature with new interpretations of the Torah’s mandate to be "shomray adama" (guardians of the earth), the service "will uplift and energize participants to reconnect to [their] natural surroundings," according to the synagogue.
