Thousand Oaks Elks Lodge to host annual salute to law enforcement, firefighters

Thousand Oaks Elks Lodge 2477 will host its 26th annual "Law Enforcement and Firefighters Recognition Program" at 8 p.m. Wed., Jan. 29 in the meeting room of the lodge, 158 Conejo School Road, Thousand Oaks.

Attending the program to assist in the presentation of the peace officer awards will be Ventura County Sheriff Bob Brooks; Los Angeles County’s Lost Hills Sheriff Station’s Capt. James Glazer; Ventura County Highway Patrol Capt. Mark Lunn; and Los Angeles County/West Valley Highway Patrol Capt. Warren Stanley.

Also attending the program to assist in the presentation of the firefighter awards will be Ventura County Fire Chief Bob Roper and Los Angeles County Assistant Fire Chief Paul A. Schuster.

At the recognition program, a plaque will be presented to a person from each of the six agencies in recognition of his or her service to the local community.

The individual peace officers and firefighters selected for recognition made outstanding contributions during 2001 to the geographic area served by Elks Lodge No. 2477—serving Newbury Park, Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village and Agoura Hills.

In addition, Ventura County Supervisor Linda Parks will present awards to each of the peace officers and firefighters, and Thousand Oaks Mayor Andy Fox will also make a presentation to the recipients.

The event is open to the public. A no-host social period will begin at 6 p.m. A barbecue dinner will be served at 7 p.m. The cost of the dinner is $12.
