Talk on the radio in new show To provide listeners with a thoughtful dialogue and local perspectives on issues related to the possible war with Iraq, KCLU has launched "CrossTalk." Hosted by veteran radio professionals Maria Sanchez, Jim Rondeau and Lance Orozco, the public affairs program will air from 9 to 10 a.m. weekdays following "Morning Edition" and prior to "Fresh Air." "As the area’s public radio station, we have a responsibility to the community to provide a local voice on issues that affect us all," said Rondeau, KCLU program director and host of the Monday and Wednesday shows. "The turbulence in Iraq and throughout the Middle East is affecting everyone, and we felt that we really needed to provide an opportunity for listeners to get involved," he added. Topics such as the dangers of bioterrorism, how the war on terrorism is reflected in the local Muslim and Jewish communities, and the perspectives of Congressional representatives on military involvement are open for discussion. Listeners can call (805) 493-9200. KCLU, a community service of California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, is a National Public Radio station serving listeners in Ventura County at 88.3 FM. |
