Ray Bradbury to speak in T.O.

Ray Bradbury, author of some of the most literate, lyrical, imaginative and erudite science fiction ever written, will autograph his books at 6:15 p.m. Tues., Dec. 17 in the community meeting room at the Thousand Oaks Library, 1401 E. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks, followed by a talk at 7 p.m.

The author of "Martian Chronicles," "Fahrenheit 451," "The Illustrated Man" and many other books, short stories, screenplays and plays, Bradbury will regale the audience with reminiscences of his long literary career and life’s adventures.

Attendees may purchase copies of Bradbury’s books that will be offered for sale beginning at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 for members of the Friends of the Thousand Oaks Library, which is sponsoring his visit, or $15 for non-members. Students and seniors (60 and up) also pay $10. Reservations are required and may be made by calling (805) 497-0291 or online at www.ftol.org.

Bradbury is donating the proceeds from his guest appearance to the Friends’ Endowment Fund, which is used to purchase books, CDs, videos, equipment and other library materials for the Thousand Oaks and Newbury Park libraries.
