Bookmark contest winners recognized
Designs were judged on creativity, originality, neatness

In celebration of Children’s Book Week last month, the Agoura Hills Library participated in a countywide bookmark contest sponsored annually by the County of Los Angeles Public Library. Children in grades K-8 are invited to create and draw a design about books or reading. This year’s contest them was "Fuel Your Mind!" The designs were judged on creativity, originality and neatness.
Local winners were:
Kindergarten to 2nd grade category: Katie Kidney of Sumac Elementary, first place. ; Ara Yazaryan, White Oak and Lianda Moss, Yerba Buena, second place; Grant Lozoya, Rachael La Monte and Mason Markell, all Sumac students, third place.
3rd to 5th grade: Inez Lam of Yerba Buena, first place; Esther Rachel Weiss, Conejo Jewish Day School and Evan Markkell, Sumac, second place; Kala Randazzo, Sumac, Mike Park, St. Jude the Apostle, Jono Markovitz, Yerba Buena and Shannon Yih, Rachel Alperstein and Patrick McDonald, all Willow students, third place.
6th to 8th grade: All winners attend Lindero Canyon Middle School. Garrett Aries, first place; Brynna Plaescone, second place; and Jessica Sherwyn, third place.
