Garden without chemicals

Thousand Oaks resident James Nichols will lead a "Community Forum on Growing Without the Use of Chemicals" from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sat., Sept. 21 at Soka University, 26800 W. Mulholland Highway, Calabasas.

Nichols been engaged in the study of creating a successful, environmentally-friendly agricultural industry without chemicals for 20 years. He has written articles on the subject, personally lobbied the agriculture industry and developed a U.S. patent for the "method and apparatus for the non-toxic control of insects and weeds." He will provide information and discuss organic fertilizers, weed and pest control.

Other environmental advocates with non-chemical solutions to garden care challenges are invited to participate in the forum.
