Friendship Force to meet

Former First Lady Rosyln Carter is the honorary chairman and her son Chip is the president of a nonprofit organization called the Friendship Force, committed to promoting cross-cultural understanding between people through home stays in different nations.

The organization is active in more than 60 countries. Its motto is "A world of friends is a world of peace."

Locally, the Friendship Force will host a meeting at 1 p.m. Sun., Sept. 22 at the Encino Community Center.

For those interested in joining "the Force," the qualities sought in participants are "flexibility, a spirit of adventure and a sense of humor."
