Nominees sought for Human Rights Awards

The general public and community leaders are invited to nominate individuals or organizations to be honored at the Human Rights Awards luncheon on Sun., Dec. 8 at the Mandalay Bay Hotel, Oxnard to celebrate United Nations Human Rights Day.

The Baha’i communities in western L.A. County and Ventura County have sponsored this celebration for the last 11 years.

Areas of service of nominees may relate to assisting others in improving their basic quality of life; education; family enhancement; employment; and freedom of expression. The deadline for submitting a nomination form is Mon., Sept. 30.

This 12th anniversary commemoration publicizing United Nations Human Rights Day will feature Rebequa Getahoun Murphy as keynote speaker, whose areas of expertise include women and development, leadership development and creating alignment within organizations.
