Simon possible guest for CVRWF

Conejo Valley Republican Women Federated (CVRWF), joined by members of the Westlake Republican Women Federated, will host political strategist Dan Schnur as guest speaker and gubernatorial candidate William Simon as expected guest at their 11:30 a.m. meeting Fri., Sept. 20 at the Clarion Hotel, 495 Ventu Park Road, Newbury Park.

Simon’s visit would mark a major campaign stop in the Ventura and Santa Barbara counties area for the candidate, according to the CVRWF.

Schnur was national director of communications for the 2000 presidential campaign of U.S. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) He was Gov. Pete Wilson’s chief media spokesman for five years and previously was communications director for the California Republican Party.

Currently, Schnur is visiting instructor at the University of California at Berkeley’s Institute of Governmental Studies, where he teaches courses in politics and campaigning.

The event is open to the public. Luncheon reservations are $20 and should be made in advance by calling (805) 495-6418. All Republican volunteers are also invited to visit the new Conejo Valley Republican headquarters which opened recently at 3592 Willow Lane in Thousand Oaks.
