Learn to be creative at CVAS

Among the wide variety of classes offered by Conejo Valley Adult School (CVAS) are the following classes for those with artistic inclinations—or those who may not yet know that they possess a flair for the arts. All classes are offered at CVAS, 1025 Old Farm Road in T.O.

Two courses for budding artists are on tap. "Painting with Pastels—Grades 3 to 5" will be offered from 3:15 to 4:45 p.m. on seven Tuesdays beginning Sept. 17. Award-winning painter Ariana Richards will demonstrate and teach basic skills in composition and the use of pastels.

Richards will also lead "Painting with Pastels—Grades Six and Up" from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on seven Mondays beginning Sept. 23.

The cost is $55 per session.

Learn the basic skills of "Japanese Sumi and Callligraphy" in a class offered from 1 to 4 p.m. on four Saturdays beginning Sept. 21 in Room No. 4.

Participants will learn basic stroke techniques and how to create flowers, butterflies and birds. The cost is $45.
