Pavley takes committee post

State Assemblywoman Fran Pavley (D-Woodland Hills) has been selected as a member of the Speaker’s Select Committee on Title IX recently formed by state Assembly Speaker Herb J. Wesson, Jr. (D-Los Angeles/Culver City).

Citing the need to improve California’s track record at giving women a chance to succeed in academics and athletics, Wesson formed the committee to examine how California universities, colleges, public schools and local sports organizations comply with the 1972 education mandate to prevent discrimination in academics and athletics.

Pavley, a former mayor and city councilwoman of Agoura Hills, also worked as a teacher for Moorpark Unified School District.
