Reader defends freedom of speech

Regarding "Some of the same people who scream about developers are making babies and adding to pollution," (The Acorn, May 30): K.C. Durfee, you must be a very lonely woman. The greatest gift that God ever gave me is my two daughters. The joy they give me is the best thing in life.

Didn’t God put us on this earth to procreate? If we didn’t, there wouldn’t be life on earth. If Adam and Eve felt the same way you do, life would have stopped there.

There wouldn’t be people to build homes and live in them. If we didn’t have schools, you wouldn’t be able to write this outlandish letter. If we didn’t have churches and temples, where would people gather to pray? If we didn’t have stores, where would you buy your clothing, food and necessities?

Unless you are making your own clothes, growing your own food and living in the wild, how can you in your right mind write the letter that you did?

People might not agree on Ahmanson Ranch or New Millennium Homes, but in this country we have something called freedom of speech. As you know from your letter, freedom of speech is important. Just like I feel that freedom of speech is important.

Have a great day and I hope you keep yourself safe out there in the wild.
