Excellence in Media, a Hollywood-based organization, recently announced that Dr. Jon Wilson of Calabasas received the "Angel Award."

His winning entry, "Jesus? Santa?" appeared in his regular column, "Words of Hope," in the Faith section of The Acorn last December. It explained the historical relationship between Santa Claus and Jesus Christ. Wilson previously received two Silver Angels and a "Special Achievement" award while writing a weekly religious column for the now-defunct Los Angeles Herald Examiner.

He has written a newspaper column regularly since 1983. Wilson’s columns are usually a distillation of his weekly messages to his congregation. He’s presently pastor of Canoga Park Presbyterian Church.

The "Angel Award" is given to those who contribute to the advancement of quality media without the need for violence, profanity or sexual content to sell an audience, according to the organization’s director, Mary Door.
