T.O. tourney to remember Oak Park golfer, help worthy cause

The Wellness Community Valley/Ventura will host its annual golf tournament on June 10 at Spanish Hills Golf and Country Club, 999 Crestview Drive, Camarillo.

A new feature this year will be a tennis tournament to be played at the same time.

Two-time tournament player Anton Nikolic, the 18-year-old Oak Park High School student who lost his life in an automobile accident on Jan. 4, will be remembered in a memorial tribute. He raised $400 in 1998 and $500 in 1999 to be in the annual tournaments, and played in foursomes with celebrities including Chad Everett, who will play in the tournament and contribute to the auction.

The event will benefit The Wellness Community Valley/Ventura, which provides free professional support and counseling for cancer patients and their families and loved ones at its Westlake Village, Camarillo and San Fernando Valley locations.

The golf tournament will be a Texas scramble with four-person teams, and the tennis tournament will be a round-robin doubles competition with a cumulative score. Registration for the golf tournament begins at 8:30 a.m., and the tennis tournament at 9:30 a.m. Play for both tournaments begins at 10:30 a.m.

An awards program, dinner, auction and raffle will follow tournament play.

The fee is $295 per person for golf, and includes green fees, golf cart, and on-course activities. For tennis, the fee is $105 and includes tournament play and contests.

Fees for both tournaments also include player gifts and a light breakfast, lunch and dinner. Sponsorship opportunities are available.
