Library proponent honored by Westlake

Beverly Herr, a leading force in the creation of a library for the city of Westlake Village, was selected by the city to be honored in the Older Americans Recognition Day ceremony conducted recently at Dorothy Chandler Pavilion in downtown Los Angeles.

Outstanding seniors from each of the cities in L.A. County are honored at the annual event, sponsored by the L.A. County Commission on Aging.

In 1998, Herr was elected president of the Friends of the Westlake Village Library, the organization of community members who raised funds to open and operate a library in the city.

She’s been actively involved in the planning and construction of the new library and was instrumental in spearheading the "Name a Bookshelf" fundraiser for the new library.
